Microsoft will come up with a dual-screen phone in 2020

There are reports that Microsoft is currently working on a new Android smartphone that has dual screens. On Wednesday, the window maker kind of showed off its first smartphone which it has named Surface Duo. The smartphone was shown off by Microsoft during an event in New York.

Microsoft, during the event, said that the upcoming smartphone will have two screens but it will be quite different from Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Fold.  The smartphone will ultimately make its users more productive said Micorosft while it showed a video of people using a stylus with the phone. We have reports that the new smartphone which will be called Surface Duo will have two 5.6-inch displays that can expand to an 8.3-inch device.

The company during the event in New York did not share many details regarding the Surface Duo, but it did convey that the smartphone will be available in holiday 2020. Besides talking about the upcoming Surface Duo, the window maker during the event also talked about the launch of Windows 10 X software for dual-screen devices. The new products that were launched during the event were “Surface Laptop 3, Surface Pro X and Surface Pro 7 tablets, Surface Earbuds and the SQ1 custom Arm chip”.

Our news sources have reported that the following partnering with Google, the Surface Duo will also be able to run apps from Google Play Store.

“This product brings together the absolute best of Microsoft, and we’re partnering with Google to bring the absolute best of Android in one product,” Microsoft Product Chief Panos Panay said. “This is industry pushing technology.”

There are reports that Micorosft earlier tried to make operating systems for mobile phones, but the company gave up on the efforts two years ago. The reason behind giving up was that it could not compete with the popularity of Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS.
