In today’s article, we will discuss the famous American supernatural teen drama television series Vampire Diaries Season 9. The series is produced by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, and is based on the popular book series of the same name, written by L.J. Smith. The series premiered on The CW on September 10th, 2009, and concluded on March 10th, 2017. In total, the show aired 171 episodes over an entire eight seasons!

More information on the show before we discuss a season 9 of the same, after eight seasons, the series got a spin-off for Klaus’ clan (The Originals), got another spin-off (Legacies), and was then announced to wrap up. But of course, fans all over the world would not have that. The show was canceled and had aired its eighth and final season three years ago in 2017. Moreover, the show’s creator Julie Plec revealed that she believed that the show had run its course and come to a natural end. So will there be a season 9 or will fans just have to accept that the end remains as is, read on to find out! But first, let’s dive into the history and the storyline of the series.

Storyline

The show is set in the town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, a place charged with supernatural and extraordinary history since its settlement of outsiders from New England in the late 18th CE. The story follows the life of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), a teenage girl who has just lost her parents in a car accident, as she falls in love with a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated as Stefan’s older brother Damon Salvatore (played by Ian Somerhalder) returns, with a plan to bring back their past love Katherine Price (played by Dobrev), a vampire who looks exactly like Elena. Although Damon initially harbors a grudge against his brother for forcing him to become a vampire, he later reconciles with Stefan and falls in love with Elena, creating a love triangle among the three. Both brothers attempt to protect Elena as they face various villains and threats to their town, including Katherine. The brothers’ history and the towns’ mythology are revealed through flashbacks as the series goes on.

Additional storylines revolve around the other inhabitants of the town, most notably Elena’s younger brother, Jeremy Gilbert and aunt Jenna Sommers, her best friends Bonnie Bennett and Caroline Forbes, their mutual friends Matt Donovan and Tyler Lockwood, Matt’s older sister Vicki Donovan and their history teacher, vampire hunter Alaric Saltzman. The town’s politics are orchestrated by descendants of the original funding families, all comprising a “Founders’ Council”. They guard the town mainly from vampires and other supernatural threats such as werewolves, witches, hybrids and ghosts.

Will There Be A Season 9 Of “The Vampire Diaries”?

Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena- the character that the entire show mainly revolved around, quit the show in Season six, appearing for one final episode in the finale. It seems unlikely that she will return and take on her role in the show again. Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon has also stressed several times over the past 2 years that he is in fact, past the Vampire Diaries phase of his life and wishes to move onto other projects.

In addition to this, any rumors regarding the revival of the show haven’t been addressed- neither accepted nor denied. There hasn’t been any official announcements or even hints of a new season. Rumors fly wild but we’re that’s all they may be, just rumors. However, it is quite possible that the current on-going pandemic has caused a delay in the announcement of the same, and in the event of a new season, we should expect an announcement by the end of the year and maybe a hopeful release in 2021. But, with no official word on the same, the following remains as just speculation until confirmed. So hold on while we update you with the news at the earliest, as soon as we hear the world of the same.

Plot Of Season 9

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 ended with unconnected dots and unpredictable futures and loose ends for the all characters. Viewers are currently asking for an explanation, which may only be delivered through a new season. Fans of this show have high hopes that the series will be picked up for another season’s renewal.

The storyline of Season 9 will have to resume where season 8 ended. So let’s look at the end of Season 8 once again, it reveals a major conflict between the brothers regarding the ongoing drama. Katherine has yet again started havoc in Mystic Falls, which is probably over in exchange for Stefan’s forfeit. The forthcoming season 9 will bring a completely different challenge for Bonnie and Damon.

Trailer Of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 9

There’s no saying if we will ever get a season 9 trailer as shooting or filming hasn’t even started for any forthcoming season. So, fans will have to be patient and wait a little longer for a sneak peek of the new and upcoming series.
