President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump almost won all the votes in their primary elections on Super Tuesday, especially in big states like California and Texas.
However, Nikki Haley surprised everyone by winning the Republican primary in Vermont, and a lesser-known Democrat named Jason Palmer beat Biden in American Samoa’s caucus.
Biden said that “millions of voters” are ready to stand up for democracy and resist Trump’s plans. Trump called Tuesday a great night but spent most of his speech criticizing Biden’s vision for America. Haley’s campaign pointed out that many Republican voters are worried about Trump.
Palmer found out he won in American Samoa when he started getting lots of text messages.
Trump’s strong performance on Super Tuesday means he will compete against Biden in what The Wall Street Journal calls “America’s great presidential unpopularity contest.” Both candidates have reasons to be cautious, according to The Associated Press.
Trump is losing some of the Republican vote to Haley, while Biden faces concerns about Democratic enthusiasm, although it didn’t seem to affect the primary.
