The Republican National Committee (RNC), supported by former President Donald Trump, made big changes to its leadership, letting go of about 60 officials, according to a trusted source.
The recent appointments of Michael Whatley as chair and Lara Trump as co-chair by RNC members show how they’re reshaping things to get voters moving and gather money for the November elections.
The decision to cut 60 positions from the RNC is about making things run smoother, avoiding doing the same job twice and making sure the RNC and Trump’s campaign work together well.
Mostly, they’ll be cutting staff in the political, communications, and data areas to use resources better and make the organization work more efficiently.
As of January, the RNC had around 208 employees, as shown in their monthly report to the Federal Election Commission.
It’s worth noting that Lara Trump becoming co-chair is a big deal, echoing Maureen Reagan’s time as co-chair in the 1980s, showing the importance of family within the RNC.
As they shift leadership, the RNC is dealing with tough money issues, especially in raising funds.
