Borussia Dortmund secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over Augsburg on Sunday, highlighted by striker Sebastien Haller’s emotional return following his battle with cancer.
Augsburg repeatedly equalized during the match, but Dortmund ultimately clinched the win with Gio Reyna’s 78th-minute goal in their first game back after a two-month break.
“Dortmund struck after 29 minutes with Jude Bellingham weaving a shot through three defenders after creating just the bit of space he needed with a superb move,” the report noted.
The match was a rollercoaster, with Dortmund initially taking the lead through Jude Bellingham’s skillful goal in the 29th minute.
Augsburg responded just before halftime with an equalizer from Arne Maier, capitalizing on a defensive error by Nico Schlotterbeck. However, Schlotterbeck redeemed himself minutes later by scoring off a free kick, restoring Dortmund’s lead.

“Augsburg levelled once more with Ermedin Demirovic’s shot getting a deflection off new Dortmund signing Julian Ryerson for the equaliser in first half stoppage time,” the report added.
In the second half, Dortmund bolstered their attack with substitutions including Haller and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, leading to Bynoe-Gittens thundering in Dortmund’s third goal from long range in the 75th minute.
Yet, Dortmund’s defensive struggles persisted as Augsburg equalized again through David Colina shortly after.
Despite the setbacks, Reyna’s decisive goal in the 78th minute secured Dortmund’s victory for the fourth time in the match, highlighting a spirited performance.
Bayern Munich, who drew 1-1 against RB Leipzig on Friday, continue to lead the Bundesliga standings with 35 points.
