Legendary Superstar Weighs In on CM Punk’s WWE Return

Shawn Michaels, a legendary figure in the WWE, has shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s highly anticipated return to the company. During a recent NXT Deadline media call, Michaels discussed the situation, stating that he believes the business aspect of wrestling is what ultimately drives decisions. “For me, I don’t think it was that difficult. I’m pleased that it all came together. We’ve always found that when you can exit the stage on your own terms, it makes the transition easier. I’m genuinely excited about it.”

Michaels went on to address the dynamic between CM Punk and Seth Rollins, who was revealed as Punk’s first opponent following his return. Michaels believes that the complexities of the wrestling business can lead to misunderstandings and judgments among wrestlers. “You want to become that top guy and then you become that top guy and then you see these other people sort of come in and you go, ‘Jesus, [these] part-timers’ and ‘taking spots,’ and stuff like that and then one day you get to the point where you go, ‘I still want to work, but I don’t want to be working all the time,’ and then all of sudden now you are the part-timer. I understand it on everyone’s level.”

Michaels emphasized the importance of understanding the business side of wrestling, noting that ultimately, decisions are made based on what is best for business. “If you’ve covered darn near every aspect of this industry, you learn not to judge. You learn not to get upset. It’s just one of the necessary evils of the business, but again ultimately it always comes down to what is the bottom line and what is best for business and I think over time everybody understands that.”

The WWE has seen a number of high-profile superstar returns in recent years, with CM Punk’s return sparking significant interest among fans. While reactions have been mixed, Michaels’ comments offer a unique perspective on the situation. Others have also weighed in on Punk’s return, including Bobby Lashley, who expressed mixed feelings backstage but hopes that Punk can demonstrate his loyalty and earn his way back to the top.

Michaels’ remarks suggest that the business side of wrestling can be complex and nuanced, with decisions often made based on what is best for the company rather than personal feelings or biases. As the WWE continues to navigate the ever-changing terrain of professional wrestling, Michaels’ insights offer a valuable perspective on the importance of understanding the business side of the industry.
