A judge in New York has denied Donald Trump’s request to postpone his trial scheduled for April 15th regarding payments made to a porn star to keep quiet, even as Trump claims presidential immunity in another criminal case.

This decision comes as the Supreme Court is set to review Trump’s immunity claim on April 25th.

In the New York case, Trump’s lawyers wanted a delay, arguing that statements Trump made during his presidency could affect the trial’s outcome.

However, Judge Juan Merchan rejected the request for a delay, pointing out that Trump had waited too long to bring up the immunity claim.

Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, did not comment on the judge’s decision. Trump, who faces four criminal charges, including allegations of falsifying business records related to payments to Stormy Daniels, has pleaded not guilty.

This trial could be the only one to conclude before the next election, despite Trump’s attempts to delay it due to concerns about biased media coverage. Prosecutors oppose delaying the trial, saying they can find fair jurors.

Trump is dealing with legal battles in other states as well, including a case in Georgia involving election interference and a federal case in Florida about handling government documents. No previous US president has ever had to go through a criminal trial like this.
