When all is said and done, history may prove that Charlotte Flair was the only person who was truly ready for Asuka.
This week, on a special Tribute to the Troops edition of SmackDown, Flair will attempt to prove that remains true as she battles the Empress of Tomorrow in another chapter of their long-standing rivalry.
“You know, regardless of whether Asuka is with Damage CTRL or not, I have all the love and respect for Asuka,” said Flair on the SmackDown Lowdown. “But at the end of the day, I still have her number.”

Flair didn’t hesitate to add that whether it’s old Asuka or new Asuka, the result will remain the same, with Flair coming out on top.
At Survivor Series, The Queen secured another win over Asuka, though it was in a War Games team competition. Still, in big match situations one-on-one, Flair has proven to be Asuka’s kryptonite.
At WrestleMania 34 in 2018, Flair ended Asuka’s nearly 1,000-day streak of going undefeated in WWE and NXT to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Afterward, Asuka said that she was glad Flair defeated her.
A year later, Flair beat Asuka again, this time winning the SmackDown crown days before WrestleMania 35.

That set up a winner-takes-all match with Raw Champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Becky Lynch.
Though this decision came under fire from many fans, it was intended to add more prestige to what became the first women’s match to headline a WrestleMania.
No titles will be at stake this time when Flair and Asuka meet again. But with the Royal Rumble weeks away, Flair could use another victory over Asuka to propel her stock.
Arguably the greatest female performer in wrestling history, Flair looks to make another championship run at next year’s Showcase of the Immortals.
