Call it a New York welcome. Jake Paul faced a barrage of boos and jeers during a press conference on Sunday promoting his November boxing match against the legendary Mike Tyson. The 27-year-old social media star-turned-boxer responded with equal fervor.
The crowd erupted in chants of “F–k Jake Paul” and “YouTuber” almost every time Paul spoke. He seemed to embrace his role as the antagonist, at one point shouting back, “Shut the f–k up, New York.”
“Boo yourselves. Boo yourselves, New York,” he continued. “You’re just like Mike Tyson—you were good 20 years ago. F–k you, New York. Dumbass Democratic city.”
Paul made several pointed remarks about Tyson, 58, throughout the event. “F*ck you New York! F*ck you! Dumbass Democratic city!” Paul yelled, adding to the tension.
Iron Mike, in contrast, remained more composed despite Paul’s provocations, which included calling him an “old-a– motherf—er.”
Addressing the crowd’s jeers, Paul remarked, “Yeah, you had to go on your little menopause break and postpone the fight. What about that, dog? I was ready before you needed a little break. Your tummy hurt? Your tummy hurt still?”
Tyson responded calmly, “I feel a lot better now.”
Despite a health scare that led him to postpone their fight earlier this year, Tyson is focused on facing Paul. “I’m very prepared,” he affirmed. “I had a small adversity, I got sick, but I got better. I feel good.”
In late May, less than two months before their originally scheduled fight on July 20, Tyson experienced a reported health emergency while flying from Miami to Los Angeles. The issue was described as an “ulcer flare-up” by his representative.
The press conference also featured a brief scuffle during a photo opportunity. As Tyson and Paul faced off, Paul pushed Tyson, resulting in a moment of jostling that concluded without major incident.
This event marked the second time Tyson and Paul have appeared together onstage in New York City to generate buzz for their bout, now set for November 15.
