John Cena, the 45-year-old WWE Superstar, has had an illustrious career spanning over two decades. He joined the WWE in 2000 and rapidly rose to become the company’s face and a top superstar, winning 16 World Championships and numerous awards. However, according to former WWE Superstar Rene Dupree, Cena’s success had led to him feeling threatened by a few of his co-workers.
During an episode of Cafe de Rene, a fan asked Dupree if Cena felt threatened by other superstars who resembled him, such as Chris Masters and Alex Riley. Dupree confidently replied that Cena indeed felt threatened, “Very much so. Very much so. Yeah. The American, the man with the muscular physique, tall, good looking, yep, 100%.”
In the early 2000s, Cena debuted on the main roster, and one of the company’s top stars at the time was Triple H. The two superstars shared the ring on several occasions, including a match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 22. Dupree had previously mentioned on his podcast that Triple H disliked Cena and was jealous of his success. He reiterated this claim on Cafe de Rene, stating that Cena was not liked by Hunter, who was instead jealous of his rising popularity.
The claim that Cena was on the chopping block is reportedly not true, according to Dupree, who claims to have witnessed interactions between Cena and Vince McMahon that contradict this notion. Meanwhile, Cena recently posted a photo on Instagram featuring Logan Paul, teasing his potential involvement at WrestleMania 39. It is worth noting that Vince McMahon had granted Cena full permission to do as much with WWE as he pleased, even after his retirement, prior to the takeover.
In recent times, the WWE has been undergoing significant changes with the arrival of new ownership and the resignation of Stephanie McMahon. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates on the company’s future developments.
