Manhattan prosecutors informed a judge on Wednesday that they are reviewing new allegations of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein and might pursue a fresh indictment against him before his upcoming retrial on charges of rape and sexual assault.

Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg stated in court that more individuals have come forward with accusations of assault, and prosecutors are determining which cases are within the legal time limits for prosecution.

She mentioned that some potential survivors who were not prepared to testify during Weinstein’s initial trial in New York may now be willing to do so.

When asked by Judge Curtis Farber about the possibility of a new indictment, Blumberg confirmed, “Yes, your honor.”

Blumberg indicated that prosecutors would provide a clearer update on the case’s progress by the end of June.

Farber scheduled the next court hearing for July 9, with the retrial on the rape charge tentatively set for after Labor Day.

Weinstein’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala, expressed confidence outside the courthouse that no additional accusers would emerge to strengthen the prosecution’s case.

“He maintains his innocence,” Aidala stated regarding Weinstein.

Weinstein, who has faced ongoing health issues while in custody, appeared in court in a wheelchair at the same New York City courthouse where former President Donald Trump is also being tried.
