Theatre World was left reeling in shock and sadness as news of the sudden passing of talented actor and singer Gavin Creel spread like wildfire. Creel went on to appear in a number of critically acclaimed productions, including “Hello Again,” “She Loves Me,” and “Les Misérables,” for which he earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. His most recent role was as Cornelius Hackl in the Broadway revival of “Hello, Dolly!,” where he received widespread rave reviews for his charming and nuanced performance.

But Creel’s impact on the theatre world went far beyond his impressive resume. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and infectious energy, which inspired countless colleagues and fans. “Gavin was a bright light, always shining brightly and making everyone around him feel seen and heard,” said a fellow actor who worked with him on multiple productions. “He had a way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room, and his talent and generosity inspired us all to be our best selves.”
