Taylor Swift has made history by becoming the first solo artist to perform at Wembley Stadium eight times in a single tour. The pop superstar closed out the European leg of her Eras Tour on Tuesday with a packed show featuring special guests. She treated fans to the first live rendition of her song “So Long, London” from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which is thought to reference her ex-boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn.
The show was filled with surprises, including the first live presentation of her song “So Long, London”, which held the slot reserved for the most meaningful track on each of her albums. Another surprise came when Swift debuted a new music video for “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” from the new album, featuring backstage footage of the singer during the tour.
The Eras Tour, which has grossed over a billion dollars, takes fans through Swift’s back catalogue, including hits from albums 1989, Red, Midnights, and her latest chart-topping 11th studio album. The tour has been a massive success, with many of her shows selling out quickly. In fact, the tour has been so popular that Swift has had to add more dates to meet the demand.
The show at Wembley Stadium also featured appearances from British group Florence + The Machine, who performed their collaboration “Florida!!!” with Swift. Her friend and long-term collaborator, music producer Jack Antonoff, joined her on stage for a rendition of “Death By A Thousand Cuts” from her 2019 album Lover. The crowd was also treated to a surprise performance by Ed Sheeran, who joined Swift on stage to perform their collaboration “Everything Has Changed”.
Among those in the audience were Swift’s friends and fans, including the Haim sisters, Oscar-nominated British actress Emily Blunt, and her husband, The Office star John Krasinski. The show was a fitting end to the European leg of the tour, and Swift will take her show on the road to Canada, where she has nine more dates left before wrapping up the tour on December 8th.
