Wrestling Legend’s Secret Desire to Leave WWE

Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels (Via WWE/Twitter)

The Undertaker, a WWE lifer, has spoken candidly about the possibility of leaving the company for WCW during a conversation with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport. The Deadman revealed that he had a serious conversation with Kevin Nash about making the switch, citing frustration with WWE’s creative direction and the company’s stale product. According to Taker, WCW’s appeal to younger audiences, its cutting-edge storytelling, and demographic of 18-34 years old were all attractive to him.

Taker recalled feeling stifled by WWE’s focus on appealing to a younger audience, with a demographic of nine-to-twelve-year-olds. He felt that WCW’s edgier approach would have allowed him to tap into a more mature audience and showcase his skills in a different way. The prospect of being told that he wouldn’t draw a dime in the business, as WCW allegedly advised him, was a motivating factor for Taker.

The thought of Taker leaving WWE for WCW was met with multiple rejections, and it seemed that the idea was squashed for good. However, the recent revelation has sparked a new discussion about what could have been if Taker had made the switch. Despite being retired and under a stellar contract with WWE as a legend, Taker’s comments have sparked rumors about the possibility of him joining AEW. Tony Khan, the owner of AEW, has expressed interest in having Taker join his promotion, but it’s unlikely that Taker will consider the option.

Taker’s comments have rekindled debate about his decision to stay with WWE, and what could have been if he had chosen to take the risk and join WCW. The Undertaker’s remarkable career, spanning over three decades, has cemented his status as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. His commitment to WWE, despite the temptation to leave, has been a testament to his loyalty to Vince McMahon and the WWE brand.
