WWE SmackDown is returning to the USA Network, marking a landmark five-year deal. This move will likely impact WWE’s other programming, including Raw and NXT. The current contracts for Raw, NXT, and SmackDown are approaching their expiration date in the Fall of 2024. Raw and NXT are currently under contract with the USA Network, while SmackDown airs on FOX. WWE has recently ended its partnership with FOX and has entered into a new five-year agreement with the USA Network, bringing SmackDown back to the network.

As part of this deal, WWE has also committed to producing four primetime specials per year to be broadcast on NBC. This expansion into primetime slots is a strategic shift for WWE, as they look to consolidate their broadcast network and increase their presence on television. However, this move marks the end of Raw and NXT’s tenure on the USA Network, leaving space for new programming to fill the gap.

The departure of Raw and NXT from the USA Network is likely to have significant implications for the wrestling world. Rumors are circulating that the rights to Raw’s programming are currently up for grabs, with a variety of parties expressing interest in acquiring the rights. Traditional linear networks, streaming services, and even unexpected players are said to be in the running, making for a potentially transformative period in WWE’s television terrain.

The pro wrestling world is accustomed to change, and it seems that 2024 will be no exception. As WWE explores new avenues and partnerships for their flagship programs, fans are left eagerly awaiting news about the fate of Raw and NXT.

Notably, the departure of Raw and NXT from the USA Network means that WWE will need to find new homes for their programming. This could lead to a shake-up in the wrestling world, with new broadcasts and storylines emerging in the coming months. As WWE continues to navigate the ever-changing terrain of television and streaming, fans can only speculate about what the future holds for these beloved programs.
