Stevie Richards, a former WWE superstar, has opened up about his experiences with the company, revealing that he was almost picked for two of their most iconic stables, D-Generation X and Evolution. During a recent interview with WSI’s James Romero, Richards shared that WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon had considered him for D-Generation X, but ultimately didn’t end up joining the group.
Richards recalled meeting with Vince McMahon just before signing with the company and feeling unprepared for the encounter. Despite this, he believed that Vince knew he would try his best and was willing to work hard. Richards, who had a 9-year stint with WWE from 1999 to 2008, won the Hardcore Championship 21 times and the European Championship once, but couldn’t shake the feeling that he was meant for bigger things.
One thing that Richards did get to experience was leading the villainous Right to Censor faction from 2000 to 2001, a role that cemented his reputation as a formidable opponent in the ring. However, he couldn’t help but wonder what could have been if he had joined D-Generation X or Evolution, two of the most revered stable’s in WWE history.
Richards’ revelation has left fans speculating about what could have been if the WWE had decided to go with their original plan. Would he have added another iconic stable to his resume? Would he have fit in with the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Chyna? The answer remains a tantalizing what-if for fans of the WWE.
