WWE’s Turbulent Era of Creative Change Underway

WWE’s recent merger with the UFC has sent shockwaves throughout the company, marking a new era for Superstars. While some may have reservations about the changes, others are embracing the shift. During a recent PW Torch audio show, Wade Keller discussed how WWE Superstars are viewing the current creative terrain. Keller mentioned that some wrestlers are receptive to Vince McMahon’s return, citing that they had a better push under his leadership. According to Keller, every booker has their favorites, and some Superstars feel they received a more prominent push under McMahon.

It’s natural for wrestlers to have varying opinions on creative direction, and some may feel more comfortable with McMahon’s influence. Additionally, some Superstars may have enjoyed a better run under McMahon, only to see that momentum slow down under Paul Levesque’s leadership. Keller emphasized that this perspective is “purely based on self-interest,” with wrestlers seeking to advance their own careers.

Despite Vince McMahon being more hands-off during the 2023 WWE Draft, he remains the ultimate authority figure in the company. As such, he can intervene whenever he sees fit and make changes to the creative direction. WWE’s current state of flux is nothing new, as the company has always undergone significant transformations. The new arrangement between Vince McMahon and Triple H has undoubtedly altered the creative terrain, and only time will reveal how this period will be remembered in the future.

The dynamic between Vince McMahon and Paul Levesque is an interesting topic of discussion, with some fans questioning the effectiveness of their partnership. Few can argue, however, that the WWE is an ever-changing terrain that requires adaptability and flexibility. As the company continues to navigate this turbulent period, it will be intriguing to see how Superstars adapt and respond to the shifting creative terrain.
