WWE’s Upcoming Draft and Its Impact on Brand Split

WWE Draft (Via WWE/Twitter)

The WWE Draft is just around the corner, set to take place on the April 28th episode of SmackDown and conclude on the May 1st episode of Monday Night Raw. This year’s draft will see every eligible Superstar up for grabs, presenting a plethora of possibilities. The company will also be implementing a hard brand split, a decision that is largely driven by the television networks.

USA Network and FOX, which pay a significant amount of money for WWE programming, want Superstars to be exclusive to their respective brands. This is a major factor in WWE’s decision to implement a hard brand split. These networks are adamant that their investment goes towards locking down Superstars to keep them exclusive.

This development is significant, given that USA Network is interested in acquiring Roman Reigns and the Bloodline faction in the draft. Whether or not this will come to fruition remains to be seen. The report also noted that Vince McMahon, WWE’s CEO and chairman, has been absent from the 2023 Draft process, a decision that is not entirely surprising given his reputation for being heavily involved in creative decisions.

However, it is worth noting that Ringding News’ sources have confirmed that McMahon could still intervene if he chooses to, and that he is not hesitant to make changes or suggestions through his representatives, such as Triple H, Bruce Prichard, or Ed Koskey.

The 2023 WWE Draft is shaping up to be an exciting and unpredictable event, with the rosters set to undergo significant changes in the coming weeks. As fans, it is exciting to think about the possibilities and what the future may hold for our favorite Superstars. Will the hard brand split lead to fresh storylines and feuds, or will it stifle creativity and lead to stagnation? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – the WWE Draft will be an event to remember.
