The Philadelphia 76ers managed to secure a 133-126 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in double overtime on Sunday night, despite the absence of Joel Embiid.
Embiid was sidelined due to a left knee injury recovery, following his participation in Saturday night’s triumph against the Grizzlies.
This marked his first absence since returning to the court last Tuesday, following an eight-week hiatus after undergoing a procedure on the lateral meniscus in his left knee.
In Embiid’s absence, Tyrese Maxey stepped up admirably, delivering a career-best performance with 52 points across 54 minutes of play.
The win marked the Sixers’ fifth consecutive victory, propelling them past Miami into the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
They now trail the Indiana Pacers by just one game for the No. 6 seed, with upcoming matchups against the Pistons, Magic, and Nets.
Despite Embiid’s absence, the team has seen a strong performance from him since his return, averaging 27.7 points in just 28.2 minutes over his three games back.
