A vintage car that was restored with assistance from the Make-A-Wish Foundation was found again on Tuesday, following its theft two weeks earlier with a flat tire from the side of a Michigan highway, authorities reported.
Police received a tip and located the 1968 Ford Galaxie in a yard in Vevay Township, according to the Ingham County sheriff’s office.
Rachel Agnello expressed relief on Facebook after the car was recovered, saying, “There is some bad in this world, but the good in this world conquered this time!!”
Her husband, Joshua, recounted that he had been driving the Galaxie on May 22 when a tire blew out on Interstate 496 in Lansing. He explained to WILX-TV that he pulled over and left the vehicle. When he returned two hours later, the car was gone.
Joshua mentioned that the car has been a part of his family since 1991, and he had restored it 18 years ago with support from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He has cystic fibrosis.
The sheriff’s office expressed joy in assisting with the car’s return and is seeking additional details about the theft.
