The Atlanta Hawks announced on Monday that starting small forward De’Andre Hunter will be sidelined for at least two weeks due to inflammation in his right knee.
Hunter, who has already sat out the past two games, is scheduled to undergo a nonsurgical procedure on Tuesday.
After an MRI on Saturday revealed the inflammation, the team indicated that Hunter will undergo reevaluation in approximately two weeks.
“De’Andre Hunter is fourth on the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game. He averages 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists and is one of the team’s top defensive players.”
Despite Hunter’s absence, the Hawks may receive a boost soon with the potential return of forward Jalen Johnson later this week. Johnson has been out for a month due to a wrist injury.
The Hawks, who are currently on a two-game losing streak and hold a record of 12-17, are set to face the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.
