A driver passed away after a vehicle collided with an outer gate of the White House complex late Saturday, according to police. The incident is being treated as a traffic crash. President Joe Biden was in Delaware for the weekend, and the Secret Service assured that there was no danger to the White House.
The male driver, not immediately identified, was discovered deceased in the vehicle following the crash, which occurred just before 10:30 p.m., as stated by the Secret Service.
The Metropolitan Police Department reported that the vehicle hit a security barrier at the intersection of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Police responded to the scene at 10:46 p.m., confirming that an adult male died from crashing into the security barrier surrounding the complex.
The Secret Service implemented security measures and confirmed no threat to the White House. Investigations are ongoing by both the Secret Service and police.
