On Wednesday, President Joe Biden criticized Donald Trump for a project in Wisconsin that failed to create thousands of new jobs as promised. Biden also highlighted new economic investments happening at the same location under his administration.
Now, that site in Wisconsin will host a new data center from Microsoft. The president of Microsoft credited Biden’s economic policies for making these new investments possible.
For Biden, this was another way to show how his approach differs from Trump’s. Trump had pledged a $10 billion investment from Foxconn, a company based in Taiwan, but it never materialized.
“Actually, he came here with your senator, Ron Johnson, holding a golden shovel, promising to build the eighth wonder of the world. Can you believe it?” Biden told the audience that there were around 300 people cheering loudly. “Look at what happened. They dug a hole with those golden shovels and then fell into it.”
Biden noted that 100 homes were demolished for the project, which wasted hundreds of millions of dollars. He added, “Foxconn turned out to be just that — a con. Imagine that.”
