Police in Charlotte, North Carolina, have concluded that the man who shot and killed four law enforcement officers a month ago acted alone.
According to Deputy Chief Tonya Arrington, there was only one shooter involved and no incidents of friendly fire during the tragic incident on April 29 in a residential neighborhood.
In addition to the four officers who lost their lives, four others were injured, marking the deadliest attack on law enforcement since 2016.
The incident unfolded when officers from a U.S. Marshals Task Force attempted to serve warrants at a home, resulting in an exchange of gunfire with 39-year-old Terry Clark Hughes Jr., who was wanted for firearms possession and fleeing from authorities.
Despite initial confusion due to Hughes moving between windows, the investigation confirmed that there were no other shooters involved, and no firearms were found with the female occupants in the house.
The shootout lasted over 17 minutes, during which Hughes, armed with an AR-15 rifle and a handgun, eventually exited the house and was fatally shot by officers in the front yard.
