Hunter Biden’s daughter Naomi testified on Friday in his federal gun trial, discussing her visit to him at a rehab center in California. She told jurors that before purchasing the revolver in 2018, her father appeared to be improving.
“I hadn’t seen my dad in a long time, and I knew he was in a rehab facility there. He reached out,” she told jurors quietly. She explained they met at a coffee shop with his “sober coach.” Before leaving the courtroom, she paused to hug her dad.
After federal prosecutors finished presenting their case, the defense began calling witnesses. Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, first questioned another gun store clerk present during the purchase, raising concerns about inconsistencies on the form.
Lowell also questioned the shop owner who allowed the sale, despite it being processed with Hunter’s passport lacked an address as required.
Next, Lowell called Hunter’s daughter. In October 2018, when Hunter bought the gun, Naomi traveled from Washington to New York in her father’s truck to move her boyfriend’s belongings.
Later that month, Hunter drove Joe Biden’s Cadillac to New York to retrieve his truck, leaving the Cadillac with Naomi. She testified that she didn’t notice any drug paraphernalia or signs of drug use.
“He seemed great. He seemed hopeful,” she said.
However, prosecutors presented texts where Hunter didn’t reply to her messages for hours after she asked about switching cars. At 2 a.m., he texted Naomi asking for the keys to his truck and if her boyfriend could meet to swap vehicles.
