NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been hospitalized after breaking his hip during a fall at a concert in Los Angeles, his representative Deborah Morales informed multiple outlets on Saturday.
Abdul-Jabbar, 76, was taken to the hospital Friday night following the fall at an undisclosed event and underwent surgery on Saturday, according to Morales. No further details about his condition were provided.
Morales mentioned that Abdul-Jabbar was “deeply appreciative” of the Los Angeles Fire Department for their immediate treatment at the scene, and he expressed gratitude towards the “amazing medical team and doctors at UCLA Hospital who are taking great care of [him].”
A Hall of Famer who won NBA titles with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers, Abdul-Jabbar is the league’s only six-time MVP and was the NBA career scoring leader until his record was surpassed by LeBron James in February.
