Five individuals were shot during a community celebration day in a Cincinnati park last weekend, according to police. Fortunately, none of the injuries were severe.
The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Bramble Park in the city’s Madisonville neighborhood. Lieutenant Jonathan Cunningham mentioned to WXIX-TV that the victims’ ages ranged from 24 to 46 years old, and all injuries were initially deemed non-life-threatening. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, with authorities searching for two possible suspects, as reported by WKRC-TV.
Witnesses recounted hearing between 20 to 30 shots, and evidence markers numbering at least 22 were visible around the park and nearby roads.
Attendees of the park informed WCPO-TV that the incident took place during the annual “Madisonville Day” event, which included activities like children’s bounce houses, a DJ, and a basketball competition.
Following the incidents, the Madisonville Community Council urged anyone with information to contact the police. They also emphasized on social media that these were isolated incidents and encouraged people not to be deterred from enjoying the parks during the summer.
