Fulham manager Marco Silva has declined an offer to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad. The 46-year-old recently engaged in discussions with representatives from Al-Ittihad, a club owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns Newcastle United.
With Silva’s decision, former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has emerged as the leading candidate to take over at Al-Ittihad, following the dismissal of Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo.
Fulham remains optimistic about retaining Silva, especially after he rebuffed a similar approach from another PIF-controlled club, Al-Ahli, last summer.
Silva has been widely praised for his leadership at Fulham. Under his management, the club comfortably avoided relegation in two consecutive seasons following their promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.
His commitment to Fulham has been a major factor in their stability and performance, reinforcing the club’s confidence in his continued leadership in the middle of external interest.
Silva’s decision to stay reflects his dedication to Fulham’s ongoing projects and ambitions in the Premier League, providing a boost to the club and its supporters.
