As Donald Trump continues his campaign for a third Republican presidential nomination, he’s increasingly appealing to Christian voters. Supporters like Kimberly Vaughn from Florence, Kentucky, believe strongly in his connection to their faith. At a rally near Dayton, Ohio, many wore T-shirts and hats with religious messages such as “Jesus is my savior, Trump is my president” and “God, Guns & Trump.”
Some even wore shirts saying “Make America Godly Again,” featuring an image of Jesus with Trump. In interviews, attendees expressed their belief that Trump shares their Christian values, particularly on issues like abortion and LGBTQ+ rights.
They overlook concerns about his past behavior or current legal troubles, viewing him as someone who offers second chances. Many see him not just as a political leader, but as a defender of Christianity and American patriotism.
“I think he believes in God and supports our military and our country,” said Tammy Houston of New Lexington, Ohio.
“For me, family comes first, and on a larger scale, it’s putting America first,” added Sherrie Cotterman of Sidney, Ohio. “I’d prefer a president who openly relies on God’s strength.”
